Regarding the Right to Additional Time for Female Graduate Students Who Give Birth

In accordance with the letter dated 29.04.2026 and numbered E-75850160-104.01.03.01-30044 from the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education, significant amendments have been made within the scope of the "Regulation Amending the Regulation on Graduate Education and Training," published in the Official Gazette dated 06 March 2026 and numbered 33188.

According to this regulation, female students enrolled in graduate programs who give birth may be granted an additional two semesters upon request. These periods will not be counted towards the maximum study period.

The principles regarding the implementation have been determined as follows, within the framework of the decision of the Executive Board of Higher Education dated 22.04.2026:

Students who gave birth before the publication of the regulation and whose studies are ongoing will also be able to benefit from this right.
Students who give birth during their enrollment period may request an additional period without any time limit. Students who have suspended their studies due to childbirth may request an additional two semesters at the end of the suspension period.
Master`s and doctoral students who are in the thesis revision stage will also be able to benefit from this right.
Students who have given birth more than once during their studies may request an additional two semesters for each birth.

Students must apply to our institute with a petition to benefit from this right.
